Throttling Tactic for "Unlimited" Plan

Advertising "Unlimited Data" without PROMINENTLY disclosing that you limit data via "throttling"   Let's see how that plays out.   Disgraceful a name like Verizon practices such cheap tactics duping customers into thinking they actually have unlimited data.  You should advertise (right along side the UNLIMITED DATA headline) that you throttle data down to an unusable limit once the data becomes limited.  If Verizon thinks its justifiable, why not PROMINENTLY disclose it to prospective customers looking at the "Unlimited" plan?

It's always good to know how the unlimited plan works. The unlimited plan promises unlimited data, not unlimited speeds. We cannot provide unlimited speeds on a network technology which in and of itself, is limited. This is because it's a shared resource and just like other shared resources when bogged down or over consumed, it impacts how other services are able to work/perform.

We do not throttle our customers. Our network is a shared resource and to allow others to be able to get the best speeds, we do prioritize the amount of high-speed data each plan has. This threshold is standard in the industry.

I understand your concern however the plans are in fact unlimited as you have no cap on how much data you can use. However as the network is a shared resource, network management is needed in order to ensure an overall positive experience. All carriers have different tiers of unlimited plans in which these network management practices are in place. Click here to learn more http://vz.to/2pP6Ei6

Cool.  So, just prominently advertise that you “slow down data after a specified data cap” right alone side the big “Unlimited” headline.  Easy right?   No… of course it’s much less conspicuous to hide it in the fine print in order to save the sale.  It’s like advertising an “all you can eat buffet”, taking the payment, then handing the customer a bottle cap for a plate.  “We promised you can have all you can eat; we don’t promise you can do it very quickly…”.   Whatever….   I, just like all customers, can simply choose a different company…   Gotta love the free market!

The tag line is Unlimited Data. Not Unlimited Speed. Just like when all the vehicles fill up the freeway, the speed slows down on the shared resource of the cellular network. Every person doesn't have access to the loneliest highway in the world every day so we shouldn't expect the highest data speeds either.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
