I have the lg usb 4g modem and a 5gig data plan. I usually use it on a computer with Windows xp, and all works well. Last night I used it on a different computer with windows 7. After being on for about 40 minutes, checking e-mails, looking at MSN.com (no videos, just reading the articles), and looking at two very small pdf documents on a federal website, I got a message that I had used 90% of my plan; when I looked at the bottom left panel of access manager where it shows how much you are using, it was showing that I was using one mb every two or three seconds. I used more than one gig in less than 40 minutes without downloading anything or doing anything else that would use a lot of data. I shut everything down, rebooted, turned on the device again, and went to acess manager. With just the device on, it was still using one mb every two or three seconds. Just to have the device manager on for two or three minutes was eating up 70+ mb.
I call tech support; they said they would get back to me, but haven't so far.

Are you sure the computer wasn't doing updates? Because with my windows 7 computer, when my computer gets and internet connections it automatically startsto update and everything and it will run back up on my computer. That will eat up your data usage.

Budone, that is what I am thinking it could possibly be. When I was using my hotspot, I had to turn off my updates so I wouldn't use all of my allowance.

I am not using my phone for a connection, but it seems Windows for me, if I do not specify a time or shut off updates, it will start the update at the most inopportune time and I never know it is downloading.

Mine would update right when it would get internet connection all the time, and it was annoying so I just had to set my updates to not happen at all unless I approved the updates to happen.

Experienced the same thing the devices constantly transfer data even when your computers are off, you get overages for Verizon's data snooping. im suprised you even got 1gb of data transfer in 37 minutes it takes me about that for 1mb if it doesent drop and make me restart it when your not using it turn it off and pop out the battery.
