I'm signed up, Ed, but a month after the Thunderbolt roll out, there is still just the one offering. My current service is poor and I thought, with the size of Verizon's network, there would be many more offereings by now. I'm, frankly, a little disappointed but not completely surprised since Verizon tailed off Android advertising quite a bit, in favor of iPhone.
So here we customers sit, impatiently waiting for somebody to provide better service or for Verizon to provide a better phone option.

I don't know, I see about 3-4 Thunderbolt commercials for every Verizon iPhone commercial. It seems to me that they are still going strong on Android.

I had similar concerns about typing on a touchscreen keyboard. Physical keyboards and regular virtual keyboards were problematic for me. Word tracing virtual keyboards (like Swype, Ultra Keyboard and SlideIt) are what work best for me. Have you given any of those a try? Those types of keyboards can take your thumbs out of the process, as most people trace with their index finger.

How do you hold the phone and use your index finger to trace? That feels kind of tough in my mind, I use my thumbs to type whether it is a touchscreen or physical key buttons. Right now 4G isn't in my area so I am not too concerned about upgrading, but Verizon clearly hates the physical qwerty keyboard as their best and only semi high end android phone for android is the Droid 2 Global right now. As such I am probably going to go for a 4.3" full touchscreen phone, but typing without looking will be dead to me and speed will be somewhat limited, though I can type pretty well on a horizontal touchscreen.
Also I tried swype as it is built into my phone but I couldn't see where my thumb was stopping so even doing their simple 4 letter test word seemed super hard to me.

I think you would grow to like it. However, the error correction required will slow you down.
I'd borrow a friend's phone with Swype and practice, or go practice at a Verizon Store.

Verizon needs to really get with the program. I still have a Razor
in NYC and I am waiting for the ultimate Verizon phone. The 4G
phone is great but still Bulky, I do prefer a smaller sleeker phone.
Like the Iphone appearance or something resembling it. No more
bulky phones, with weird keyboards...we need change Now
