Why is Verizon Always so Slow to Adopt New Phones?

I'm living in one of the 38 markets that will have 4G service as of December 5th. Big deal! I can't take advantage of it. Unlike every other carrier with 4G service (Sprint, T Mobile), Verizon doesn't have any 4G phones for sale as they roll out 4G service. No, it'll take Verizon a minimum of 6 months before they'll have 4G phones available. What's the point of 4G service if we can't even use it with a cell phone? The one glaring weakness in Verizon's service (and it's a big weakness) is that they are SO slow in releasing new phones. I really wish that this would change.......

At least you live in one of the 38 cities, lucky you! I live in small town, so my best bet would be in 2013.  Just be patient, 4G devices coming out sometime in February, that's not bad, compared to 2013.

Oh man. Sorry to hear about that. I believe that Verizon has said that they're not releasing any 4G capable phones until "mid-2011" (http://www.technewsworld.com/story/71375.html?wlc=1291422317). I just don't understand why Verizon would not have any 4G compatible phones ready for purchase by the time they started 4G service. Sprint had the HTC Evo available when they started 4G service and T Mobile had the My Touch available when they rolled out their 4G service (well, ungraded 3G service, actually). It seems like AT&T, Sprint, and T Mobile get all of the latest phone FAR before Verizon gets them. What's the point in having fast service if the phone you're using is already outdated. Verizon really needs to get their act together on this.

I feel ya... I don't understand the delay either, since 4G will be actually ready in 38 cities on Dec. 5.

The  initial devices that are being offered at launch are USB modems for 4G mobile broadband use. Specifics regarding 4G handsets or smartphones have not been finalized or announced yet.
