We are approaching to the 4G era in mobile communications.
There are three technologies in the 4G, WiMAX, HSPA and LTE.
Currently, four major WiMAX operators, Clearwire(US.), Yota(Russia), UQ(Japan) and WiBro(Korea) group.
However, 3 of those are considering a migration from WiMAX to TDD-LTE.
Because, WiMAX will not be able to deploy voice communications.
LTE is now available voice over LTE.
This means EoLTE, everything over LTE is ready to launch.
The EoLTE enables manufacturing of cheaper handsets and infrastructure with single radio transmission.
So, VZW made a smart decision by choosing 4G LTE.

Yeah, too bad they don't appear to have a clue how to support it and how to work with manufacturers of devices to make drivers/firmware that work....
