Yes, you can bring your own device without a change in your plan. Just ensure that the phone is Verizon branded with a clean ESN/MEID. You'll need a SIM card to activate it; they're free at your local Corporate Verizon store, or you can order one during the activation process if you activate the phone on-line.

Yes, I understood that; there is no difference between 3G and 4G where data plans are concerned. When you get the SIM card and activate it, you'll have 4G whenever you are in a 4G service area.

thank you... but i do not think we are on the same page.. i have a
grandfathered in Unlimited 3G plan and NO 4G on my current plan. i do Not
wish to change my plan due to the fact that i will Lose my Unlimited 3G
plan, i was asking becuase i know if you are not in a 4G area a 4G phone
will "switch" to using 3G right? i wanted to find out if i could ONLY use
the 3G for a 4G phone (LG Intuition) ... again, ONLY 3G.. ALL the time.
(will not use ANY 4G ever)

As tikibar stated, there's no difference between a 3G and 4G plan.
If you purchase a phone from a third party or from Verizon at full retail, you will not have to change your service plan.
As stated, you WILL need a SIM card. And you can get one at no charge from a Verizon corporate store.
3G-4G doesn't matter. You can possibly switch the phone to only use 3G but that is not necessary.
