Verizon 5G home internet Can't send email from outlook

I switched to VZ 5G home internet approx. 2 months ago from Xfinity.. The problem is , can't send email before 5PM with outlook on three different Windows machines. At 5PM my outbox empties and I can send with no problem. I have Comcast and Gmail addresses. Both fail with sever interruption and/or auth failure. 5 service calls to VZ and they keep resetting the Gateway, both soft and factory along with refreshing the network which fixes temporarily. If I go to my Cellphone hotspot for internet all works fine all the time. The specific key here is, somewhere someone knows what 5PM in the afternoon is doing out there.  14 yrs. with Comcast, no problem.

I just signed up today for the Verizon Internet Gateway 5G service, after throwing my hands in the air with Comcast Xfinity constantly going down with no suitable explanation or resolution.   I got on the phone with someone at Verizon, ordered the new 5G service, and within an hour I had picked up the router and set it up.

I now have every device in my home linked to the new Verizon router.   However, now that I am doing some reading,  I am having concerns.

1) How secure is this cellular based service compared to Xfinity?    What types of malware, phishing, etc. protections are in place?   2) I was not aware of the 10 device limitation.  Show me a home that has less than a dozen these days.  The question I have here is whether more than say 15-20 devices can exist on the network, but just not be using it simultaneously.

firden,  I am very concerned about the situation with your emails.  Has this been resolved?  Both my wife and I rely heavily on Microsoft Outlook.  I also use Teams, as well as remoting into my office.   If I wind up encountering problems here, then what will I have gained?  Better to know now.

Thanks

All I can tell you is I'm very happy with the speed and price. I am also happy to be away from Xfinity.

Going on vacation in a couple of days, but when I get back to work and I am using Outlook again, I'll let you know how I fare.  I'm looking forward to being confident enough to also pull the plug on Xfinity.

Thanks Nicole, I'm a bit past that.  I’ve gone through those steps and more with no less than 6 VZ techs minimum( I really lost count). Speed is not an issue at 220MB.   5PM is a solid and specific troubleshooting point when email sends and not before during the day.   Thanks again Dennis

Replaced Comcast internet with FIOS August 2022.     Zero problems until Sunday Sept 3, 2023.   Suddenly I could no longer send emails from MS Outlook on my desktop computer running Windows 10 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

No problems receiving emails.    No problems sending emails from my iphone or from my Xfinity account.    I have a comcast.net email account.

Worked with a technician I use, and we were able to determine that the problem was not with Outlook.    Nor a firewall.

Disconnecting the FIOS router from my computer and using an iphone hotspot instead, I was again able to send emails from Outlook on my desktop successfully 24 hours a day.     Of course, I have to reconnect the router to use the internet on my desktop!

So I can have one or the other on my desktop and have to switch back and forth - unless it is between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., when I can send outlook emails from my desktop with the router connected!!!

I finally got a Verizon rep on the  phone, who was no help and would not acknowledge that the problem was their router and hung up on me!

I would love to discontinue FIOS but have a very poor iphone signal in my area (for all providers), so I guess I will have to live with this problem.   Fortunately I do not send a lot of emails!!!

I've not contacted   Verizon again but will try again soon. Rebooting my gateway gives me a couple of days of relief.

Then back in the toilet between 8AM and night. Don't know if reboot will help you. Mine is obviously a counter somewhere in the Gateway or  VZ servers that gets reset. It is so specific that someone will know what it is.  My hesitation is I need that someone to work with instead of reboot, reset, factory reset or network reset. I've memorized my Gateway password, Ha.  Real happy with performance of the connection otherwise. Good luck friend.
