Hi Everyone,
I just recently signed up for the Xmas deal of 5g Home plus. I already have a router so I follow the instruction to set the modem to IP passthrough and use the router to connect to Port 2. Everything seems to work fine except for the Blink Security Camera by Amazon (Sync module 1). I would get the motion sensor notification but when I go to the recorded clip, there is nothing there.
I thought originally it was a range issue; however, using the same setting, if I turn off IP Passthrough, the recorded clips do show up. However, I now have a double NAT issue, even though I turn off the Wifi on Verizon.
Does anyone have a similar issue? What setting do I need to change besides setting it to IP Passthrough?
I know it is not a router issue as I have tested with the Xfinity gateway and set it as IP passthrough as well, and there is no issue with the blink security camera. I would get the notification and be able to see the recorded clips. Additionally, I have followed the normal reset of the sync module and camera...etc, though if that was an issue, I would have seen it without IP pass through mode as well..
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

onetakewu, we want to make sure that you're able to use your device with the configurations you chose. Please tell us, is the Blink Security Camera the only device that you're having issues with while IP Passthrough mode is enabled? When you have Passthrough mode enabled do you encounter any issues with your data speeds, loading certain sites, etc?

Hi,
I just got my modem over Xmas so I have not had enough time to test to see if there are other additional issues yet with speed and sites (so far not material differences but still testing). However, based on my limited testing so far, it seems to affect only the blink camera during IP passthrough mode. Specifically, it only affects the recording of it. Right now when the motion is detected, I would get a notification but there will be no recording clip. It is as if there is an issue uploading the recorded clips to the cloud? Once I switch back to normal operating mode and still have my router attached, everything works fine. However, now I have a double NAT issue. I would like to avoid the double NAT issue by setting the modem into IP Passthrough.
As mentioned, originally I thought it was a blink camera issue. To test it, I used the same ASUS router and connected it to the Xfinity gateway modem and turned the Xfinity modem into IP Passthrough. It works fine, no other issue.
As such, I thought it might be something to do with the Verizon IP Passthrough mode and perhaps there is some setting I need to modify?

Hi,
I have previously replied the ask by the 2 separate agents explaining the issue in the thread. Do you mean to reach out as in to call or?
Right now I am trying to figure out what setting to to change so my IP passthrough can work with the blink camera.
Let me know what I need to do to resolve this issue.

We're very sorry, but we can't guarantee the functionality of services when using IP Passthrough or Bridge Mode since it's not our own equipment. When IP Passthrough is disabled, do you see any reductions in data speeds or issues with service?

Hi,
I don't specifically see the difference in speed, though I am still testing. However, are you saying there is nothing you can do with issue involving IP passthrough? Any suggestions on setting changes?
In other words, the purpose of using IP Passthrough is to allow us to use our own router (better Wifi range), as the Verizon's WiFi range is limited. However, if it has an issue, we have to use Verizon's own wireless function vs IP Passthrough in order to receive customer support?
I know previously there were issues for IP Passthrough for the ASK model and I believe the firmware update fixes. Just wondering if there will be support for ARC on IP Passthrough.

I have nearly the same situation, except that I have Wyze Battery Cam Pros (3 of them) that will not upload images or video. They do alert whey triggered.... just don't upload video or thumbnails. When testing by reverting back to previous isp they work fine. I am also using the Gateway in pass-through mode, but it behaved the same way in router mode.
I've tried every type of reset, uninstall, reinstall on all devices that you can imagine.
No one has ever recommended any device settings changes yet.

Hi so what I end up doing was I ordered the wifi extender which is free from Verizon and now I am just connect everything to Verizon and use it as both the router and modem. No more double net issue and I just give up on pass through mode. Now everything is fine.

Hello, Guz123. Thank you so much for this info as it does help. Do you have any other devices connected to the Home Internet? Do they work properly? Is it just the Wyze cameras having issues?

I have the same issue. I really don’t want to give up my mesh system and because of this. It’s unfortunate that there has t been a resolution to the yet.

We understand how important it is to be able to use the devices that you choose with your network. Can you share with us, are you also having issues with other devices or only with the camera device?

No other issues. Just the cameras. I ended up switching to a different camera system.

I gave up on pass through. It never worked and Verizon couldn't solve it for me. I end up requesting Wifi extender (free) and just not using my own router.

I'm having the same issue with some of my Ring devices. I had a bunch that worked fine, but then wasn't able to connect a new Floodlight Cam. The device would connect to my network (eero in my case), but seemed to be blocked from accessing the internet to actually be usable. A few weeks ago, I happened to be walking by my Chime and noticed the blinking light (it's in my basement and not my primary bell). I reset it, added it back in, and it fails to complete. At first, I thought it was an eero issue, but a friend of mine just told me that she had the same thing happen with her Chime. She doesn't have eero, but does use the same Verizon 5G home internet service and router, also in passthrough mode.

I gave up on passthrough mode. I requested a wifi extender from Verizon (it is free) and I just skipped using my own modem, since I couldn't figure out what is wrong with the passthrough mode.

I have an eero mesh network to cover my house and yard, and I don't want to lose that. There's obviously something happening on the Verizon side to interfere with this traffic and it would be nice if they could get this to work as expected so that we don't have to implement any of these workarounds.

I hear you. for awhile I was doing the double NAT. Since I don't really play online game or anything that requires instant ping, I was ok with you. Not sure about your situation, I know that direct connect your eero mesh to Verizon should work (not passthrough)....

I have the same issue with several devices. Blink cameras, Ecoflow Delta2 Max and Delta 2 and a new Bambu Labs A1 printer. All have comms issues. Using TPLink mesh system in passthrough mode. Moved from Telco ISP using IP passthrough to Verizon 5G Home and issues began.
