Charged for modem

Ugh! I knew the moment I had so many problems connecting this thing I should have sent it back. I heard of the horror stories of people being sent replacements and getting charged for two modems or missing equipment. I still have it a try. I was desperate for a stable connection. I called to get troubleshooting done, and the tech suggested a modem. Even though she got it working. She convinced me that I needed a new modem. They sent me a new one and mine was working. So I opened the box, put the return label and sent it back. I had so much trouble with the 1st one, I didnt even want to fool with the new one that was sent. I left it at a certified ups drop off location and didnโ€™t even think to get a receipt. A month later am charged for the modem. I call customer care tell them the situation and they claim they have no record of the modem that was sent to me by the tech support agent.. Then how do they know to charge me? I ask for the Imei or serial number for the one that was claimed to  not have never been returned and the rep claims he does not have it. I know from previous interactions there is a way they can submit a ticket for research. I asked him to do that and he totally ignored my request.   SAVE YOURSELF SOME TIME AND FUSTURATION AND STICK WITH YOU CURRENT PROVIDER! SWEAR ITS NOT FASTER THEN CABLE AND NOT WORTH IT.
