Door To Door Solicitors

Multiple times a week your door to door people come to my door, ignore the no soliciting sign, ring the bell, often wake me. Make it stop.  I'll never use your service because of it and am considering changing wireless providers now too.

Same situation here.  Asked him to leave, said I don't accept solicitors.  He said he wasn't a solicitor, but was a 'Branch Manager'.  I said, "If you're not a soliciter, then what do you want?"  His response was "No, I'm not going to pitch to you now".   I asked him to leave the property, and he did, slowly, telling me that he "Hopes my Day gets better".

This behavior is not a good way to get anyone to sign up for anything, and I fear it will have the opposite effect.

I’m trying to find out where to register a complaint about a solicitor, so hopefully this works. I was out walking my dogs in my neighborhood when one of the door to door solicitors (I have his name, but though he didn’t respect my privacy, I will respect his by not posting it here) started walking with me trying to make his pitch. I told him I was not interested, especially while out on a walk, but he followed me for almost two blocks. This was incredibly creepy and uncomfortable, and I seriously did not appreciate it. Even if I was in the market for new internet service (I’m not, and told him so), I will intentionally not go with Verizon because of this.

Yesterday two people with Verizon logos on their shirts knocked on my door, despite having no soliciting signs. I work from home and was on a work call. My dogs went nuts. I politely told them I was on a work call while straining to hold my dogs back. They showed up again today. My husband just told them we were busy. I'm tempted to put a sign up directed st them to not knock.

I have had 2 Verizon employees within an hour of each other knock on my door like they were swat!! I have a no solicitation sign right at front door but I answered because they’re knock got louder and louder so i opened my door and advised I wasn’t interested and she ignored me and kept talking so then I pointed to the sign and she said oh I’m not trying to sell you anything and I said so you’re not trying to get me to sign up for Verizon and she just kept talking so I said I have to go and shut the door then a guy an hour later bangs on my door and I mean bangs!! I had my boss here for a meeting and even my boss said you know by law they aren’t supposed to knock on your door especially back to back and it made me look bad because I work from home and I don’t want my boss thinking I have all these interruptions while working. Anyway I didn’t even answer my door the second time because I knew I wouldn’t of been nice and it’s not there fault that Verizon thinks it’s ok to bang on doors so they are just doing their job but if one more Verizon employee knocks on my door I’m talking to my Godfather who is an attorney. I have a dog that has seizures if she gets too worked up and them banging like swat on my door gets her very worked up!! I’m seeing all over the internet people complaining about this. If I was looking for a different cable provider that is enough to make me not go through Verizon. I have an elderly neighbor who can’t walk very good and they banged on her door so hard and for so long she called me saying she couldn’t get downstairs and please tell them to stop banging on her door so I did and instead of them saying ok and leaving they decided to ask me to ask her if she is interested in switching services. That’s taking it too far and I get it’s their job but they cross the line.

This just happened to me as well, and it happens multiple times A MONTH. This time, it was two men back to back AFTER 8pm. First of all, my apartment complex has a clear “No Soliciting” sign posted. When I told one of the men that, he claims they “have a contract to knock” at this complex (will be checking with my leasing office tomorrow, because that honestly sounds like a lie). Furthermore, the first man who came to my apartment rang my bell, then immediately knocked with SUCH URGENCY that I thought one of my neighbors had an emergency. My dog was freaked out, barking the whole time too (as were all the other dogs in the building).  The man also was not wearing ANY Verizon branding - he was in a black STAINED t-shirt. No name tag. No lanyard  with identification. Nothing. I live in a major city where I regularly see community posts about property break-ins and people approaching women alone. As a woman who lives alone - having a man in messy clothes pound at my door at 8pm, in the dark, is EXTREMELY unsettling. I told the second person who came by to remove me from their list - which I’ve asked before. I already have Verizon cell service, and I have for more than a decade, but this is honestly making me want to switch to a different company altogether. Absolutely horrible.

I've never had experience with Verizon door-to-door solicitors. However, I have from multiple other ISPs in the area, and I receive their mailed advertising multiple times at least once per week (despite requesting (in writing) that they stop marketing to my address. I have also had experience with an overwhelming volume of door-to-door solicitors for roofing companies.

How do you stop these folks that won't act responsibly or even with common courtesy? First, leave the "No Solicitors" sign up. Next, check with your municipal regulations if you're living in a city in the United States. Many cities require a permit to solicit door-to-door (often referred to as a "Peddler's Permit"). If you live in such a city and the solicitors are in violation, then contact your city government for assistance.

I was shocked by how many companies I've been able to get to avoid my entire neighborhood by simply reporting their lack of a permit to my city clerks office. Nothing more than a few emails back and forth on my end, and a helpful person in the city clerks office.

Unfortunately, most of the folks out and about knocking on doors believe they are just doing their job...regardless if they're doing it ethically or legally.

They have been at my door almost every day this week. We have signs all over that say no soliciting and no trespassing. Yesterday the property management kicked them off the property and they came back again today with the same tired sales pitch I heard from the others. They interrupted my work from home meeting. I am livid and will not be choosing verizon for anything  as long as this persists.  Tomorrow if they show up I am calling the police to report harassment. It's obvious to me that Verizon does not care about following the laws here as this is problem that persists over and over and over. All over reddit for my city too. It's disgusting and you should ashamed.

They are in violation of the law here;

Section 11-33.1(1) Aggressive solicitation prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person to solicit money or other things of value, or to solicit the sale of goods or services:

 (4)   On private property if the owner, tenant, or lawful occupant has asked the person not to solicit on the property, or has posted a sign clearly indicating that solicitations are not welcome on the property.

I’m having the same issue. They send  different pair every week and they continue to pound on my door and ignore the no soliciting sign. I called one of them out on ignoring my sign and she said she wasn’t selling anything,  just letting me know they offer home internet in my area. I said I am already aware so why do they keep sending people? No answer. Today I had my 6th set of people knocking. I’ve been a Verizon customer for 23 years. This is ridiculous and it needs to stop.
