Gateway Physical address

Today I noticed my internet was down.  I tried all the usual fixes to no avail.  When I called Verizon I was told that my  internet was suspended because the physical address of my gateway was changed in my account?!?  I did NOT change the address & the internet worked fine 2 days ago.  I’m stumped at how customer service has to send you a text to access your account, but someone was able to do this without my knowledge??
