Hey Verizon, PLEASE get your act together!

Wonder why no one at Verizon can figure out how to change the text contact number for users of the 5G Home Internet gateway-only, when a phone number is applied/locked to the gateway and hence there is no way to text the gateway.

I get a notifcation via my e-mail BUT keep getting a notification in the snail mail that I can't be reached by texts (the 5G Gateway number) and get a reminder that I could lose the auto-pay feature along with its $10.00 monthly discount and I also get auto-toggled, on the Verizon site, back to paper billing and then have to toggle back to paperless billing and make sure that autopay is still toggled on.

Sheesh! Very annoying and frustrating in today's day and technological age that its not possible, for now at least, to simply change a phone number (as one would an e-mail) as a text contact number.

We hear you loud and clear. Please keep in mind that your 5G Home Internet is associated to a specific phone number in order to have access to the network. This is the reason why the number would not be able to changed by just entering a different number. The current specific number and line associated with your Home Internet has all the necessary features and adjustments for the service to run smoothly.  ~Geo

Thanks for the quick reply.

I just find it so silly that Verizon sends out in the mail, pre-printed notices to 5G Home Internet-only (in my case, whiIe I do have a cell phone number, which uses the Verizon towers to make calls, my cell phone is a Tracfone) customers stating:

Thank you for using paper free-billing.

Each month, we send digital bill ready reminders using email, text messages or mobile app alerts, which include the bill amount and due date. We are sending you this paper reminder as we are unable to reach you digitally.

Test messages are currently sent to:

(***) ***-****

To provide you with our best billing experience, please ensure that you setup your online account access and provide us with your alert preference serttings.

If your alert preferences are not updated and we continue to send a paper reminder, your account will be de-enrolled from paper-free billing, and any related discounts may be lost.

==>Since I more-than-obviously know that I can not change the number of my 5G Home Internet gateway BUT I DO GET alerts/notices, etc., sent to my current email, there shouldn't really be any problem, and also, unless I am missing something on the Verizon site, I have found it not possible to change my email address if I wanted to/had to or add my cell phone number as a contact/alert number.

On a positive note here, I was truly impressed with the overall simplicity/straightforwardness  of setting up the Verizon 5G Home Internet Gateway. For me, it was definitely plug-and-play. I will soon hit the 6-month mark using the service, and though it's not perfect (nothing is), so far so good.

I had this problem for 4 months and recently found a solution. I believe that Verizon has updated the My Verizon software to fix this problem.

First, sign into My Verizon on-line THROUGH A BROWSER, NOT the APP.

Click through: Account>Account Settings>Account Settings Overview>Communications Preferences>Email Address Management

Use Add Email Address to add your email address and GO THROUGH THE VERIFICATION PROCESS by clicking the confirmation link sent to your email. I did this 4 months ago, but needed to do it again.

After email is verified, click Manage under Notification Settings. Expand the line with your Gateway Number under "Mobile Device".  Add your email address. If successful, you will see your email address show up next to Billing and Payment lines under the Gateway Number.

This worked for me and I no longer get the "threating letter".
