Hey,
I have Verizon Home Internet using their internet gateway model WNC-CR200A. I also have a Orbi mesh system. Whenever I enable my gateway into IP Passthrough my speeds significantly drop. Even with a laptop or desktop PC plugged directly into the Gateway, my max speeds are 25 Mbps. Speed test with the Orbi connected is the same. If I disable IP Passthrough my speeds both through Orbi and direct to PC are 250+Mbps. I do not change location of the gateway. It’s on our top level of our home in my office. I would think that enabling the IP Passthrough and not having a double NAT configuration would be fastest but it’s quite the opposite that I am experiencing. Any advice to get this configuration to work properly?
PS when I turn off IP Passthrough, I also disable all Wifi connections so the gateway is not working as a WiFi antenna. Only connection is either to my Orbi router. For testing purposes just one PC at a time was plugged into the Gateway.

I have the same issue on Tmobile and was researching to see if I should switch to Verizon and came across this post.
- The carrier grade NAT (CG NAT) framework is what is causing this. I contacted the device manufacturer from Tmobile (Inseego) and my router manufacturer (TP link mesh router) and they point fingers at each other.
- The solution recommended was to put my router in AP mode. But then I lose my custom setup, have to redo all custom setup again on the Inseego device (even if same SSID for connectivity), and rely on the Inseego for VPN, port forwarding rules, which are already set up in my mesh router.
- Also, I was told buying a static IP would resolve this issue. Not true. I bought one, set my static IP on my router, and when I do a tracert in the command line, second ping is a local LAN from Inseego, not my static IP.

Thanks, this helped. I just turned IP passthrough off, but left the modem connected to my router. If that causes additional problems in the future, I'll have to consider putting my router in AP mode.
