Returning defective gateway

Will I face any penalty for not returning a defective gateway? I have been in touch with support twice in 3 weeks. Was supposed to get the shipping label or whatever to return it and nothing has come yet like they told me. That's why I had to ask again. I just don't want to get charged for it. The thing doesn't work right and I'm not certain the new replacement is working properly.
