Hi,
Let me preface by saying I am not super familiar with WiFi networks. I currently own an Actiontec MI424WR router that I use for my Fios network (TV and 100/100 Mbps internet). I am in a 2 story house about 1,800 square feet. My current router is on the 1st floor and I have a home office on the 2nd floor at the opposite side of the house. I installed a Netgear Extender on the 2nd floor to help increase the WiFi signal, but I am not getting anywhere close to the 100Mbps that I pay for. I was ready to purchase a mesh system, but then read that Verizon requires their own router to split the signal for their TV and Internet service. I have a few questions about how to get better performance from my network:
1) If I were to keep the Actiontec router and run a mesh system off one of the ethernet ports, would that help at all with the performance issues?
2) If I were to upgrade the router, would I still need to run an extender or add a mesh system?
3) Is 100/100 service enough to run 15-20 devices?
Thanks for any guidance!
