I did a free 30 day trial of verizon home internet. I returned my trial device within the 30 day period and decided not to continue service. I was not informed of any associated fees with my cancellation. In the weeks and months following I received letters from verizon. I mistakenly took them as spam/marketing initially and disregarded. I later opened up and realized that this was actually a bill. I reached out to Verizon customer service and was unable to get in touch with a representative to dispute the charge and find out what it was for. I kept getting connected to automated machines and eventually disconnected for not picking the right options. There was no customer service option offered on the phone. After receiving another notification i decided to call the number on the notice and pay off the debt. They could not easily explain to me what the debt was for and I attempted to dispute but ultimately decided to pay off to get them off my back. This was a $60 bill so I thought it was small enough to pay off and be done with. Unfortunately I'm currently in the middle of a mortgage and am supposed to close on December 1st. My lender ran one last check on my credit report and is now seeing this major delinquency for the payment of this debt. I received no warning from Verizon about the credit actions that were being taken. I am no longer able to obtain a mortgage because of this issue. i never even had a consistent verizon account . I was only trying internet for a free trial. Now I am at a loss for words for how much stress this is putting me in. There is no one to speak to. either . No one to help remove this from my report and get this cleared up as a major delinquency. My score went down by over 100 points and I can no longer buy a home and this remains on my credit for 7 years. Is there anyone that can help.

As someone who recently went through the mortgage application process myself, I can certainly understand just how much added stress something like this would already add to a stressful process, TALI4300. We're glad to hear that you gave our home internet service a shot, but it wasn't a free trial as you were still required to pay for the services used during that 30-day period. At any rate, it sounds like you made a payment, but then still went delinquient for some reason. The best course of action here would be to contact our Recovery Operation Team, as they handle credit disputes like this. Recovery Operations can be reached by phone at 800-852-1922 between 7am and 7pm CT on weekdays.
I hope that this information is helpful, and best of luck!
