recently joined VZW since their coverage map showed 5G coverage for my address in Stamford,CT but only getting 4G LTE even when 5G is enabled on my device. I'm able to get 5G in other areas. Paying for 5G where I need it the most to only get 4G LTE.

Welcome to the forum! 🙂 I've been having a similar issue elsewhere, and did some research on my own. I'm not a serious tech geek, so others are welcome to correct me if I got something wrong.
The radio wavelengths used in 5G technology don't go anywhere as far as the older LTE wavelengths. The distance 5G travels depends on if it's low-band, mid-band, or high-band 5G. The higher the band, the less distance it travels and the more likely it is that it won't go through buildings or other obstructions. So it's possible that buildings or other things in your area are blocking out the 5G signal. I think Verizon uses low- and mid-band 5G tech only, because high-band 5G only travels ~1500 feet and everybody doesn't want a cell tower in their backyard.
The other possibilities are:
1) The network is congested in your area with too many users on the towers in your neighborhood, so all the 5G resources have been used up and you're being put on LTE in order to have service. If you use a speedtest app it's pretty easy to find out if this is the case.
2) Pecking order of customers on the network. Every carrier has a policy where the customers on the more expensive plans get prioritized over prepaid customers, then there's the budget customers on the company's MVNO and at the bottom of the pile, 3rd party MVNO customers.

Then they should lease more tower space or lower their prices. Not increase prices by 4 dollars a month to customers who have a contract.
Do I get to charge off to grand to collections for Verizon now?
the reality is that very few people get Verizon 5g and the 5g symbol Verizon slaps on ur iPhone is not real 5g.
verizon has been ripping of customers for 3 decades.

We want to make sure you get the help you need with your 5G. If you run a speed test at home, what data speeds are you receiving? How are your calls, texts, and data performing?

I don’t have 5G in my home or at work (so about 99%) of the time I am using my phone.
It’s really irritating that they are slapping an almost $10 increase a month on our two phone lines for 5G when it is pretty much non-existent for my husband and I! (On top of that increasing the monthly cost of phone insurance as well so all in all going to have an almost $20/month increase by May).
I’m most irritated that we are paying for a service that they are failing to provide us.

@WA_User I don't know what service plan you use or your exact location, but it's been my experience 5G of any variety is really only available inside of midsize or larger cities. I live near the edge of a midsize city and virtually never have 5G service at home unless it's very late at night, but I am also a prepaid customer, so am deprioritized. I don't have to travel very far to pick up 5G consistently though, maybe a mile or 2. 5G doesn't stay on 24/7 for me at least. Even in places with good 5G reception I have to open an app needing data access before the 5G light comes on.
I suspect customers on legacy plans are also being deprioritized to customers on the latest plans. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the older plans had perks included in the package, while current plans are for service only and any perks are additional costs. So even if you're paying what looks like "current" pricing on a legacy plan, you still have perks which new customers have to pay extra on top of their current plan price.

I pay for the best plan that Verizon offers , I have to connect to my home internet because I only sit at 2 bars LTE , which is whatever , the most frustrating part is when I’m away from home , doesn’t matter what I’m doing, shopping, working at the gym etc, I still sit at 2 bars LTE and cannot connect to anything.
Why do I pay $140 a month and increasing for some reason, if I get less then what the cheapest plan offers ??

@Daveckidd Yeah, that's totally an iPhone thing, intended to convince users that their phones are better. I stopped investing in Apple's trash after mine claimed to have 4GLTE while I was standing in a known dead zone, limping along at 3G.

@sgct I'm out in New London, and trying to sort out why I can't get 5G anywhere anymore. Just for yucks, where have you been getting 5G? Maybe worth a drive to see if it's just my end of the state.

5-G extra wide band, shorter distance, throttled unlimited plans. Check with other carriers, Verizon says absolutely I can have their 5 G data not just cellular, wrong. 5g data is not he same as 5-G cellular, the script readers, and pinpoint accuracy on their coverage map fake, inn my opinion. Promised 5 G mobile and 5-G data for a 5-G PC on sale with payments, e-sim built in. 5-G data not available in my second-floor apartment, not in the stair wells, not on the fifth or sixth floors, and in the street, below my apartment no 5-G data. Apartment is above street address 770, entrance to the apartments and mailing address 880 X-Avenue. In a city, first ground level units, are typically Commercial only. Commercial / Business Services are more expensive, but cost is not the biggest issue. No data signal at street 5-G, and spotty cellular too. I have a 5-G phone because they swore, ordered a 5-G PC from them, the installer told me no 5-G any time soon, the interactive coverage map, wrong, the script reading sales-person wrong. 5 G requires line of sight, has to be pretty close too, apparently more bandwidth is extremely short. The 5 G tower, half a city block, and taller buildings block my signal. Tech said nothing changed in more than 2-years, same tower, no signal, but the sales division promises for certain 5 G at my place. That's the script, absolutely untrue, integrity is a river in Egypt. They will bill you, knowing the facts, no 5 G data, return the computer six months to get the adjustment back meanwhile I paid the bill, then a credit to my account going forward. Is that right, I paid cash, post paid, but cash all the same. What's wrong with crediting me monthly? Instead of once and done? The 5 G phone cell service occasionally does get 5 G in the bathroom, who talks on the phone in the bathroom? Well, some do, I choose not to! That is the point though, places other than where wanted it, and likely was promised you could have it. (home/work) Should beg the question, ands check your usage, why 5 G price, so little of the time? My usage shows like 0.0005 5 G, and 75 Gig at 4-G. Should we trust them, when they guarantee it, they need to do it? And then they need to make it true, b/c there's no way they didn't know there may be spotty 5 G where you expected it. That 5 G Smartphone is kind of dumb if it doesn't get 5 G, for what $1200 and $110 a month for a $15 4 G connection. Got a phone with wi-fi calling, dump Verizon, PC's 4 People unlimited, unthrottled data 4 G hotspot, limitations apply - if poor enough. Customer service with them, is not scripted and they are polite. VZ 4 G hotspot wants an $0.25 a minute and other fees for wi-fi calling on their 4 G hotspot. Deal Me IN. YIPPEE.

I used to get 5 G but the last couple of days, I’m barely getting 2 bars of LTE, sometimes SOS. Tried chatting with two agents but they were no help. They will reply back “be patience, allow me to look into your account” and disappear. When I tried to make sure if they are there, they will feel like I’m rushing them… feeling some regrets for leaving my previous network for Verizon….

I hear ya. I get 20-25mbps download speeds no matter where I am in the greater Los Angeles area. 5G should be better than this.

Been having data and connection issues at my new location. 5 devices and 5 devices and have extremely slow data and terrible call connection. I'm not inside my house there are very few trees and don't live at a place with high elevation. Literally one street away and everything works fine.
Called tech support and vzw wanted me to factory reset all my phones even though I kept saying it's impossible for all 5 of my devices to have hardware issue, this is a network issue!
So the tech opened a trouble ticket yesterday evening and 24 hours later they found no problems. Their map says I'm supposed to have 5G coverage but I get 4G LTE with 1 bad. I think a non congested 3G will be faster with phone connection.
Anyways, looks like I'm not the only one with this problem.
Here is a cheaper solution for you VZW, listen to your customer and fix the dead spot!
