There's only one carrier that's managed to do standalone 5G and unfortunately it's not Verizon. VZW needs to do some serious catching up with just getting 5G out to more places, because 5G on Verizon is really only available in large cities and maybe some of the surrounding areas around said large cities. I will say that the 4G LTE network hasn't let me down at all though, as I've got good signal strength even inside a large apartment complex with a bunch of other buildings and some hills around me, and my call quality is always great.
I Googled this about an hour ago as of this post, and must amend my previous comments...actually all the "big 3" carriers now have standalone 5G in very limited capacity, but it is not their entire 5G network. I will attest that even the carrier with the largest 5G network was not providing me with standalone 5G service, which I found rather surprising!
