Locations: Alma (48801) and Saint Louis (48880), MI
Recently switched from AT&T back to Verizon after moving back home 5 years ago. AT&T was great in local small town downtown, but not so great in the rural areas.
Switched to Verizon on same unlocked iPhone 13 and speeds are blazing (250mbps+ download) on 4G and 5G In the rural cornfield areas. Absolutely terrible in town (15-20mbps max on 4G and only 1-5mbps on 5G Auto section).
My friends and parents have the same issues on newer Android Verizon phones, so I’ve verified it is not a device specific issue.
How to escalate this with Verizon tower technicians?

If your data speeds are awesome out in the country but terrible in parts of the city, some causes are:
- deprioritization on the towers based upon service plan
- network congestion: if data speeds get better late at night, then it's definitely a case of excess traffic on the towers
- a dead zone: you can report network issues in the "Check network status" link to the right, under the "Get help from Verizon" box. However, Rome wasn't built in a day, so it's going to take a while if new towers need to be added.
