Is it possible to turn off UW band only?

On 5G my service is (was) very healthy, really fast and reliable. However recently (2+ years) 5G UW has been showing up instead of 5G in my area and whenever this happens I cannot do anything on cellular, it does not load at all. This is with full bars, 90-100% signal strength; calls do not appear to be effected but I cannot say for certain. I have never had a call dropping issue.
To remedy this I have turned off 5G entirely and have been using LTE service as it is the only way I can get a good cellular connection.
is there any way to disable the UW band at all? I am on an iPhone 12 Pro Max and cannot find anything like that anywhere.
If no, any other workarounds?
Thank you in advance!

Hello, geygan, I'm sorry to hear you've been experiencing trouble with your 5G data connection. Rest assured we're standing by to help investigate what could be causing this issue. You mentioned that you are currently using LTE for data. Do you recall what cellular data setting your iPhone was set to previously before making this change? When trying to use data, are you experiencing an issue at a particular location? Would you mind sharing your zip code so we can take a closer look at the area?

Hey there, Sommers7, we know it's important to have fast data speeds you can rely on! What issues are you running into with your service? How long has this been happening? Can you confirm your zip code so we can take a closer look at the area?

@geygan, I looked up the specs for the iPhone 12 PM and it supports 5G UW (n77, n260, n261) but what you're describing sounds like something's not enabled in the software to get the phone to work on those bands. "Regular" 5G is different wavelengths than 5G UW. This is something deeper than simply setting the band to "5G On" or "5G Auto". If you've had your SIM card or eSIM since before the 5G UW came to your neighborhood, try getting a new one because I suspect your account was provisioned only for "regular" 5G since that's all there used to be. And when the phone now hooks up to 5G UW, has no idea what to do with it due to outdated setup. If getting a new SIM still doesn't help, you'll have to try getting Verizon Tech Support to re-sync/re-provision your account.
In case you're curious, Verizon still uses their 4G LTE network for phone calls, hence your call quality never being an issue.
[update] Sorry, didn't realize this thread was created a year ago. If @Sommers7 also has the same model phone and experiencing the same problems with no internet every time their phone goes into 5G UW mode, the answer still applies.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
