Anyone know when Verizon might get 5G in Ontario, NY? I go just a little West there is 5G, work 5G, Dr. 5G, etc. T Mobile offers 5G Ultra here and if Verizon doesn't get 5G here by the time I pay off my phone, it looks like T Mobile might be the best right now. They have come a long way and in some areas, surpassed Verizon. Come on Verizon, we pay you enough!

I've seen CS reps saying any kind of network upgrades or works in progress are proprietary and this being the internet, can understand them not telling us such information in the forums. What kind of data speed are you currently getting at home as compared to the doctor's office, work, etc.? Just because you have 5G showing doesn't necessarily mean the data speeds are lots faster, as it depends on the type of 5G. Low-band 5G which is what is used to provide the largest coverage area actually doesn't run faster than 4G LTE.
In my admittedly very brief experience with T-Mobile, even though my neighborhood is also within their 5G UC coverage area, I never got access to that service and believe you must be on one of the top 2 current service plans before you get a chance at that, not to mention paying full price for said plans.

- Thank you for your reply. Currently I am on the unlimited ultra plan and I have a S23 Ultra, so I definitely pay enough for the plan I have. When I get into my car, I plug in my phone so I can see the maps on my display screen. I'm not originally from here, so I have to have the map because I do get lost easily. When I first go to leave, 1/2 the time it tells me I don't have any internet, also when I'm driving I will lose connection and it will tell me I have no internet. In the latter part, I have to actually turn off my phone to hopefully get internet again. Once I head West to Webster, which is not far, I have no issues once I get 5G. I just hope we get it here before I die 🤣 *sarcasm

If I'm understanding it correctly, you're using your phone as a hotspot so your car's display has map or GPS data? Someone else had a thread with a similar issue, but they were regularly driving in an area with poor cellular coverage and would often lapse in and out of areas with no cellular coverage at all, causing their phone's hotspot to shut off. The northeastern US has pretty solid Verizon coverage as far as I know, even if 5G is still confined to bigger cities and the immediately outlying areas around those cities. Maybe your phone's hotspot just doesn't work if you go into a 4G LTE service area, but that's surprising.

I have to plug my phone into my charger which is the only way I can maps can be shown on my display. It is still using 4G so no hotspot or Wi-Fi.
I'm not in the country, but smaller than Webster which is about 8 miles away. Webster isn't a big city, has 5G and smaller than Rochester. I guess I'll just have to wait patiently and hope 5G comes here.
