Starting yesterday I noticed the lack of the 5G symbol on both my smartphones while in my home area. Near my home and few miles around my home. Havent changed anything on my end. I reset the network settings and still the same issue. It honestly seems like theres an issue with the local tower and or the small cells in my area. This is occurring with other users in the area per my discussion with people on my neighborhood facebook group. zip code is 15218. Any thoughts or input would be appreciated. Again, it honestly seems like theres an issue with VZW recently or possibly performing maintenance on their 5g signal.

We're terribly sorry for the issues you're having with your serivce. Verizon was currently experiencing a wireless network issue in your area. Our technicians are aware of this issue and are working to resolve it quickly. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Hello..you say was an issue but you say you're currently working to resolve the issue. Which is it? Is the problem still outstanding or resolved? My issues are still unresolved. I'm on to my second nrb ticket now. I also emailed executive relations. The first nrb ticket said I wasn't provisioned correctly eventhough I never changed anything. So I changed my plan to make sure I'm absolutely provisioned. Still no 5G hence the second nrb ticket that's open.

Same with the Cincinnati, Ohio area. I work at a huge hospital here in Cincinnati and we used to get 5g full bars in the hospital and surrounding areas and now it’s just 4g LTE. No other carriers are having this problem. I guess it’s time to go to AT&T!

Both. I updated my iPhone to 17.2.1. After that, that is when the issue started. So, I have VZ twice about this issue and talked to Apple about it. I now have upgraded my plan and still no 5g. We are tired of getting ripped off here.

Bigboy2024, we don't want you to feel ripped off and we'll find a solution. Would it be possible to run a speed test and let us know what data speeds you're getting on your phones? Apart from 5G not showing, are there any other issues with your service?

I am also from the southwest Ohio area and experiencing the same issue. For me, it seems like it coincided with the 12/6/23 carrier settings update my device received. Since then my phone very rarely will connect to 5g now. I travel frequently for work and this is now an issue anywhere on the Verizon network across the United States for me. Extremely annoying. My brother is also experiencing the same issue.

There's a number of factors which could be the cause:
-The plan you're on: legacy plans are reportedly deprioritized to current plans as an example
-Verizon's 5G network is in reality NOT that big (sorry Verizon, but it really isn't)
-More and more devices are using wireless networks now, so the network is getting more bogged down
-Someone posted elsewhere that DSS (dynamic spectrum sharing) has been getting shut off in some areas at least. This was done most likely to relieve network congestion because pulling signal from other cells to "upgrade" other cells just creates an internal process going on in the system taking away resources which could have been used for devices directly connecting to the cell tower.
-Verizon is doing something else behind the scenes to improve the network and whatever it is they can't talk about it, but if towers are being worked on, they won't have full capacity. I have seen some towers in my area recently get much improved data speeds after months of not getting 5G.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.

@trvlr04 I'm also remembering a carrier update a while back (not sure when), before the 5G went out on my phone. Plus all these threads I'm seeing about the problem happening around that same time? Certainly seems like more than a coincidence.
