Very slow downloads, 5G, Unlimited Ultimate

I have Unlimited Ultimate.

Using 5GUW, my speed test exceeds 300 Mbps at 4 AM local time. I am in a built-up suburban area.

My downloads (not streaming) from Disney+, Prime Video, and Hulu do not reach even 1 MBps.

All download settings are set to accept cellular downloads at maximum quality (where applicable).

Streaming seems to function acceptably, but I do not know its exact speed.

I am very upset  that these downloads are being throttled or prevented by Verizon.

I have restarted the phone and reset the network settings several times.

Please help me with other potential solutions. Thank you.

I just received an answer from support.

They can not, and will not, do anything to assist. Their answer is “…the best recommendation for improvement at this time would be to change locations.”.

Verizon should be ashamed at this nonsense!

Solved by Reddit, not by the engineering might or customer support of Verizon. Hidden and mislabeled by Verizon, and should have been suggested by them, but simple in the end.

“Just to be clear Maximum Video Streaming Quality is a Verizon setting on your account that you have to turn on. It’s off by default. I’m not talking about the download settings on the streaming apps. If it’s not turned on you will not achieve fast video downloads even on 5GUW. I’d recommend checking again and maybe turning it off and back on.”

Further information:  downloads of files function properly, at correct speeds. Only downloads of content fail miserably and embarrassingly.

The customer service agent abandoned the secure chat session without notice and without resolving the issue.

Have you tried asking support at Amazon and Disney (Hulu is now owned by them) as to why the downloads of content are that slow?

Thank you. I will pursue that avenue as well!

Thanks for sharing this tidbit; I've added it to my notes elsewhere in case someone else has this problem.

It's unfortunate that all the major US carriers have outsourced the bulk of their CS overseas.  If you managed to get someone who was a Verizon agent within the company on a tech support call and they didn't know about the account settings, then that is pretty embarrassing.  I'm a prepaid customer, and am not eligible for streaming services through Verizon, so have my subscriptions independently.
