I've chatted with them about this. Its a firm no. They do not care about loyalty. You helped pay for their shiny new 5G road, and as a special gift they made it a toll road, and it will cost almost double what you pay now to use it.
I had the Unlimited 55+ loyalty plan in Florida using a 5g capable phone, the iPhone 12. While the phone showed 5G in some areas where it was available, the data speed was no faster than 4G LTE and was frequently deprioritized down to a speed that was not usable. I had issues with deprioritization with my old iPhone XS which was 4G LTE capable. After speaking with Verizon, I was told that the areas where I use my mobile phone are congested most of the time so the Unlimited 55+ plan is not a good choice. I was urged to upgrade to a premium data plan, Play More Unlimited which I have done but the data speed vary considerably depending on time of day and location. When it works, it works well especially in areas in Tampa that have 5G UW (speeds clocked at 800 Mbps) but many times the speeds are much lower and not much better than I had with my Unlimited 55+ plan.
I have the Get More 5G plan and it's the same for me, as it will be with any plan I believe. Some times 4G and 5G are very fast, but other times it is very slow. I'm thinking this is another thing that in part is due to the chinese virus considering a lot of people are working at home and some use cellular for their internet connection. There are also those who don't work and use the service for online gaming throughout the day. Early in the morning around 4 and 5am is the best time for speed at my location I have found.
I have been trying for nonths to get on the 55+ loyalty plan. They are unable to remove the military discount that was put on, when I was told we could use both. No one is able to remove it. I need a magician. I hate speaking to customer support constantly and my head is starting to spew some venom soon. Wish someone could help
