Gizmohub issue on Moto X

We bought my a Gizmo Gadget this evening. The Gizmohub app downloaded and installed without a hitch on the primary caregiver's phone and a designated secondary caregiver's phone. A third phone however, a Moto X, continually receives the following error message after downloading:

Your device could not register for notifications. Please check your internet connection and try again, or reboot your device to enable notifications.

The folks at the Verizon store had never seen this and a quick search of the internet shows no results either.

Rebooting doesn't work. Uninstalling doesn't work. The phone is up to date on all OS updates.

While the Gadget can still call my phone, I can't use all the other handy features that come with the app (which were some of the key selling points).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
