I received my S3 Frontier LTE from TM a few days ago. Surprisingly, it actually arrived two days early. From ordering to delivery only took four days. I used it as a standalone yesterday and experienced no problems making and receiving calls. However, when I tried to use Samsung Pay, it didn't work. I don't know if the signal wasn't wrong enough or if the salesperson declined the transaction. The salesperson acted as if he wasn't familiar with a smartwatch or Samsung Pay. So, when he didnt see me swipe my card he made a comment as if I was trying to perform something "slick". I think he might have declined the transaction from his register on purpose. I didn't want to take the time to explain to him how it worked due to the long line behind me. I will try it again at a different store. When I returned to my vehicle, I checked the signal, it was weak. So, I don't know if the transaction was declined due to the weak signal or the salesperson.
I also experienced trouble downloading the calculator app to my S3. I tried twice but it never loads. I also could not get my Samsung bluetooth wireless earplugs to pair with the S3. They paired with my Samsung smartphone perfectly using Samsung Gear.
Outside of those problems, I like not having to carry my smartphone everywhere. The only other complaint is not being able to search the internet with the S3. It downloads my email, messages, etc. but I don't see an app to search the net. I went shopping yesterday and left my smartphone at home. The store I purchased an item sent me a coupon via email. I could view the email on my watch however the attached coupon would not load.
I live outside of a large city.... I will be testing it as standalone more often to determine whether or not i have constant good signals. Of course, that will be the determining factor as to whether or not i will keep the device or sent it back in 20 days.
I just called the Samsung sales department. The rep stated to me that Verizon is not carrying the Gear S3 and they may or may not choose to carry it at a future time.
That just doesn't make sense. Why would they have a support page. They person you talked to just wanted to go on a coffee break or something, careful not to TROLL this thread.
The Gear S3 is listed on both Sprint's and U.S. Cellular's sites
I don't know how long they've been listed, but I doubt it means much for us still waiting for Verizon. I called each one and the reps at both carriers said they were available to buy. I'm not sure I believe that though.
I just posted this because I read in this thread one opinion that the Verizon delay might be some type of a CDMA issue, because neither Sprint nor U.S. Cellular offered the watch yet either.
Btw... thanks to sccarlin and AUSHIP for helping to clear up my questions about comparing AT&T's NumberSync to however Verizon handles connected watches. It seems the NumberSync feature works well. I still can't tell about Verizon's methods.
Oh ok, I see now. Sprint's site says use the GPS without your phone, not calls and texts. I guess it was wishful thinking that maybe some progress was being made, even it wasn't Verizon. This extra waiting, along with it being available at the AT&T store just down the street, for about a month now, is driving me crazy.
