While that may be so, doesn't it still effectively mean that you won't see
the watch until November 2017 and avilable through Verizon Q1 2018?
You can pretty much play this game year after year ...
I guess my hope is that whatever the issue is with the S3 release, it will won't be an issue with the S4 release and it will be in line with the other carriers. Of course Verizon could do this year after year and not release the next version until they've had the old one on the market for a year.
While we wait for the glorious announcement, my wife recently got the s2, because she likes the slightly smaller watch. I was helping her set it up and noticed there is no native "sleep" tracker. I used it ask the time in my gear 2 (which I loved... IR blaster, camera...). so my question is, did the S3 have a native sleep tracker? I lived that I could wear the watch ams only be notified about things I choose and nit notified about things I didn't care about while I slept as well as the ability to track when I slept solid through the night.
Okay so I just ordered gear s3 from att..I paid full price once you ACTIVATE watch on their 1 GB plan you simply call ATT and switch to their 250 MB plan for 14.00 dollars a month.. I am picking mine up tomorrow I'll let yall know how it goes..You have to PAY UPFRONT!!
I have used it for bout month and used 50 mb I only use it text and calls when out running...if you going stream spotify probably not best choice...
The smart watch is an interesting bit of tech gear. I bought the original Samsung Gear S a couple of Christmases ago, mostly because it was a novelty and I like tech toys. Initially, a number of people asked me if it was the new iWatch because that particular device had given this market segment a bit of a buzz. As it is a cellular device with its own phone number, the only calls I ever received on it were rollovers from my cellphone which was near me but not on me. At $5.00/month for the past two years, those were some pretty expensive gimmick calls.
The real value of the watch is its convenience for when I don't want to be packing my phone on me. That's usually when I'm out exercising. The step-tracker turned into a valuable motivational tool as it helped me identify how little I was actually moving during a day. The watch helped reinforce a habit where I am routinely getting 10K steps in each day now. I'd call it an unintended value added feature of these watches.
There are a LOT of watches that can do this quite well for a lot less money and no monthly surcharge. The reason I want the newest generation (S3) is because it looks a lot better than the S2 (I like the Frontier) and is less like wearing a tablet on my wrist! The GPS, battery life and better software interfaces make it a natural upgrade. Checking messages on a watch is a good way to screen your social contacts without being obnoxious with the smart phone, especially in meetings or at lunches, dates, etc.
I can't remember all of the cell phones I've had in the past 25 years (probably close to 25...) but most were working when I got the next "upgrade". No device has really rendered the previous ones obsolete. I have 3 iPads around the house, a stack of iPods and MP3 players (Minidisk, anyone?) and yet these items haven't defined my life, just embellished it a little. It will be great if Verizon releases an S3 version of the Samsung watch but I have great confidence there's something else that will seem equally compelling in six months if they don't. In the meantime, my original Samsung Gear S is telling me to step away from the keyboard and drag my pudgy body around the block again.
Happy New Year, everyone and hope you all find what you're looking for!
So wow!!! I chatted with rep from ATT not once but 4 times separate reps. I was told "Absolutely" "NO Problem" If I went to store and paid full price I would be able to switch to the 250 MB plan!!I went to store they did their best and I was told there was no such option!!! I chatted while I was in store and was told by Rep no such plan and she was sorry I drove 30 min to att store!!! At a loss!!
