It is my understanding VzW Home Phone is a high maintenance device requiring a reboot or power cycle at unpredictable times. If the machine is in your house and you have regular access to it then you might be able to live with it. However, if you plan on remote control over the phone as is most often the case, it may not answer the phone. Additionally, there may be no dial tone for the patch or the outbound call fails to go through. These are reasons it needs to be restarted. Frankly, "The Patch" needs the reliability of a traditional twisted pair landline and when compared to that VzW Home Phone is marginal at best.
