How do I cancel a new account and return a new phone? I have wasted 8 hours and Verizon still cannot activate my new phone.

I created a new Verizon and bought a new phone through a chat on the Verizon site. After a visit to the local Verizon store and 5 calls to Verizon customer service, I still haven't been able to activate my new phone. At the Verizon store, a rep and the manager spent over an hour looking at their computers only to tell me that they couldn't find my account. In the 5 calls to Verizon support, I have been hung up on 4 times and once I was told I would be called back, but never got a callback.
Today was the last straw. I called the Verizon Port Center twice. The first time, I was on the phone for 40 minutes. The rep. mumbled something about errors and then the call mysteriously dropped. I called back and this time, I was on the phone for 45 minutes. They rep. assured me we were making progress. But after 15 minutes of waiting for "Tier 2", she told me that she would call me back. That was 3 hours ago. I don't think I'm going to hear back. And both reps. stressed that I not turn my new phone back on during this activation process. Here are today's calls.
So, I think I'm done with Verizon. I can't waste any more time with this nonsense.
How do I cancel my account and return this phone?
