Activating new phone

Hello,

I currently have a moto g 7 phone and have purchased an unlocked Pixel 8 that I want to transfer my number to. My name is on the account as a manager but I am not the primary account holder and do not have the login info for the Verizon account, but I do know the security pin.

Can I activate the new phone and transfer the number without logging into the Verizon account? Do I need to take it into a store? Can I just swap the SIM card? Everything says you recommend using a new SIM card or eSIM, can I even do that without logging into Verizon?

Thanks.

Hello, Mechmat. Thanks so much for this info as help is here. When activating a new device, you can do so via your online My Verizon account, or we can do it for you but yes, it does require, for us to properly authenticate the account to access it. Is there an issue with you registering your line for the online My Verizon account? We want to help in any and every way we can.

I have never needed to sign info anything before to activate a phone, but I did it in store.

What happens if I just switch the SIM card?

Great question, Mechmat. It should work. Please see the link below for the steps. See header, 'Activate a New Android Smartphone'.

Please let us know if you have any questions or run into any problems. Also, since this will be a new device on your account, please let us know if you'd like to add insurance. It covers lost, damaged, or stolen for a fraction of the price of the phone.
