Identity verification

Hi, I submitted an order for an iPhone, verified my email, my credit, and received an email with a link asking to upload documents (state ID) but when I click the link, I get an “invalid request” error.

I visited the store that was supposed to fulfill my phone order to show my drivers license in person. The Verizon store associate called in but we were told they were unable to verify my identity but couldn’t tell me why.  I called 800.652.0644 when I left the store, gave all of my information again, and was told that they’re unable to open account at this time due to not being able to verify my identity but wasn’t given any path forward to resolve it.

It looks like several other folks have had this issue so I’m hopeful there is some way to resolve this.

Don’t bother calling this number because I did this and was told they simply can’t verify my identity even though I uploaded my driver license twice as requested and even a photo of my social security card. Long phone call full of questions just for her to tell me that my identity still can’t be verified and she can’t tell me why because I may not really be me. Ridiculous. I’m furious. And no guidance on how to resolve the issue.

I am also having the same trouble and I can’t even find a way to ask for help. The chat wants me to log in but I can’t log in as I don’t have an account yet because I don’t even have a phone yet. So how do I verify my ID when the link won’t work?

I had the same issue. I tried to open an account online and needed to do an identity verification. The link didn’t work. I went into the store, and for over 3 hours the manager tried to help me confirm my identity and nothing worked. We were on the phone with 3 different people from fraud prevention, so don’t tell me to call them.  They just keep sending new links that don’t work.  The manager called and talked to multiple fraud supervisors and got nowhere.  How is me standing in front of a corporate store manager with my passport, social security card, and drivers license not enough? In fact, how is that less adequate than a link?
Best part, she and I were told that there is no contingency if the link doesn’t work. She asked if she could fax the documents directly to fraud from the corporate store, and they said no.

Verizon, we need answers, and not the answer of “call the fraud prevention team” because that’s not a good enough answer.

Did you ever reach a resolution? I've been trying for an entire day and have gotten no where.

Your fraud prevention team does not care! I’ve called that number twice with no resolution. All they want to tell me is my identity can’t be verified even after submitting multiple forms of ID multiple times and they can’t guide me as far as how to resolve the issue because my identity can’t be verified. At this point, I’d rather have Metro or anything other than Verizon.

We are terribly sorry for the issues you have encountered. Our fraud prevention team does have a different process and there's not much we can do to override them. Have you tried calling them directly?

Your fraud team just tells us there is nothing they can do, and there is no further information they can provide. I’m having the same problem. And I have called them 3 times.
