Porting over from AT&T to Verizon?

Good morning! New Verizon customer here, just swapped over from AT&T where I've been a wireless customer since 2004. Started the porting process to bring my number over to my new phone yesterday morning around 10:30am.

I didn't turn the new phone on until I got home and was told it would take anywhere from 2-48 hours to complete and that I would receive a text message from Verizon on my new phone once porting is complete. I've read various things online but they acted like it should be pretty quick since I didn't turn the new phone on before I started the process.

Are there any tips/tricks to speed up this process? Leaving both phones off for a while, hard restarts, leaving just one phone off, etc? I'd rather not wait 48 hours and then have to go back into Verizon. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide?

Welcome to Verizon, hansokl. We definitely want you to have a great experience switching over to your Verizon service. The process should be seamless. I would advise to restart your device a few times, but aside from that it will happen when the system completes the process. Let us know if you have any other questions! ~Peter

Hello Jadabrean,

So we can help resolve your concerns, what exactly has been going on? When did this issue first start?

We are sorry to read that you are having issues with your port, we'll be glad to help out. Did you receive a confirmation text message about the port being completed?

First, I'd contact AT&T and make sure they released your number.  Sometimes, when there are issues with an account, the provider may hold your number.  In rare instances, a number cannot be ported for some red tape reason.

Verizon's Porting Department may be reached at 888-844-7095.  If your phone uses eSIM only, those can be finicky to activate.  Sometimes they just have to redo the port, get you a new eSIM, or finagle with something else on Verizon's side before it works.
