Question about Number Porting from Tello to Verizon – Is It Really Complete?

I recently switched my service from Tello to Verizon and I’m a bit confused about the porting process. My new phone from Verizon took a while to arrive, but when it did, I turned it on and noticed that my number seems to have successfully transferred over to the new Verizon phone. I can make and receive calls just fine. However, I never entered the port-out PIN from Tello anywhere in the process, and my Tello account still appears to be active.
When I checked the port status on Verizon’s website, it says the port is complete. But my old carrier account hasn’t been deactivated automatically.

So, my questions are:
1 Do I need to do anything further to complete the transfer?
2 Is the porting really complete if my old carrier is still active?
3 Will my old carrier (Tello) automatically stop my plan now that the number is ported?

I appreciate any guidance on this!
Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, you can't port your number by yourself.   Someone at the new carrier has to do the process for you, because it involves having your old carrier give up the number and the new carrier takes ownership of it.  If you did not enter your transfer PIN into Verizon's system at some point, then a Verizon agent must've done it for you.

As for why your Tello account is still active, I don't know how they do their service plans, but if you ported close to the end of a billing cycle with Tello, maybe the port didn't finalize in time and another billing cycle with Tello started, so then you're stuck paying for another month with them.  This happened to me when I left a budget carrier to go to Verizon - I got the timing wrong and another billing cycle started with the old carrier, who charges by the month - so when I first switched, I had to pay both Verizon and the old carrier for that month. 😞

If it isn't a timing issue, then I'd contact Tello and make sure they close your account.
