I'm trying to activate an HTC Desire 612 but I'm getting the message that the Verizon network no longer supports this phone?? When I talked to someone on the phone they said it was because the network no longer supports 3G phones, which is bogus because I'm currently using a 3G flip phone. And the Desire is 4G. Is there any configuration settings I can change so I can use this phone again??
I appreciate you bringing your concern to our attention. We do not want you going for any amount of time without access to a working device, so I want to do all I can to set the right expectations about your HTC Desire 612.
At the end of 2019, we are retiring our CDMA network, meaning that any devices that rely on the CDMA network for voice calls will no longer be compatible with our service. You can learn more about this here: http://spr.ly/6606ExTwq Review of this link will indicate that any devices not capable of Voice over LTE (VoLTE) can no longer be activated, even if they worked previously.
The HTC Desire 612 is a device that uses CDMA for voice calls, as it is not compatible with VoLTE. The full specifications for this smartphone can be reviewed here: http://spr.ly/6607ExTwS Any smartphone that you wish to activate at this time must be capable of VoLTE.
Further, your current 3G flip phone would no longer be compatible starting at the end of this year. The good news is that any and all of our smartphones currently being sold are VoLTE compatible. You can browse the selection of what is available here: http://spr.ly/6608ExTws
I hope this information is helpful because we want to avoid you having to buy a phone on short notice at the end of this year.
