Home Phone Connect

Got a new Home Phone Connect device. Setup and activation no problem. However, the LCD display stays on constantly and doesn't dim after 30 seconds of no activity. No waiting voicemails, etc. Read the instructions and checked all connections, plugged in and battery fully charged. Factory reset doesn't fix the problem. Any ideas?

Also, the new Home Phone Connect device now needed for 4G network is awful. It is bigger and bulkier and takes up more room than old device. Also you now have to look at a small dinky LCD display on the top of the device for the voicemail waiting icon. With the old device there was an easy to see blinking red light on the front side of the device if you had voicemail. And the old device had non-bright red lights that didn't constantly blink. The new device has a constantly blinking light telling you that you your LTE signal is good or weak. And I ordered a black one and they sent me a white one. Typical. And charged me, an existing costumer, $35 to activate the new device on an existing phone number, and the activation was automated over the phone and took 15 seconds. What a rip off.

I expected much better from Verizon with the new device but should have known it would be a piece of poorly designed and poorly thought out piece of junk, similar to the awful website and navagation. You would think that Verizon as being a big company the would at least have a top notch website that was easy to navigate instead of taking you down many rabbit holes trying to find what you need on the site. And trying to get support is pretty useless. I don't know if the other carriers are any better or not but getting pretty fed up with Verizon.
