Is there any advantages to using a jetpack as a hotspot over using your phone as a hotspot?

We live out in a rural area, and we have to get wireless internet connection. My son has used a service out at his house but says he gets better connection from Verizon through his iPhone 6. We have decided to drop his internet service and go with Verizon for his internet. I know I will need to up my data plan, but was wondering if there is an advantage to getting a hot spot over using his phone as a hot spot.

Both devices are mobile hotspots and neither is designed to be used as a permanent solution. Verizon offers two devices that are more appropriate: the 4G LTE Broadband Router w/Voice and LTE Internet (Installed).
