T1114 losing internet connectivity
TheNextBillGates

Hi,

I have a Novatel T1114 4G router.Recently, all connected devices (hardwired or wirelessly connected) drop internet connectivity for several seconds at random intervals. This can happen multiple times per hour - as in up to 20x.

Signal strength is decent at 3 bars. When logged into the router's webpage, I do see the double arrows disappear at times.

Here is some information and logs. Anyone have any ideas? I am rural and this is my only source of connectivity to work from home.

-99 dBm is not a very good signal.  You might have too much interference in your current environment for the device to operate efficiently.

Perform the steps of the site survey as mentioned here and see if you can discover anything else:

Agreed it's not great, but it's 3/5 bars...over a 50% signal.

I've tried everything I can think of, including testing potential locations for an antenna. I can't seem to get any better than the -99 to -98 that I get today. We have a tower going up about 1/10 mile away in the next 6 months.

My issue is that the condition is intermittent. When I reboot the modem it works great again for a while, before recurring. I find myself rebooting throughout the day to restore connectivity.

This has only become an issue in recent weeks. The last several months have been fine, with only the occasional reboot perhaps once a week.

It sounds like someone is already aware of the service problems in that area if they are already building a tower.  Considering you cannot find a good signal anywhere to deploy a amplifier and antenna then you might just have to wait it out and see what its like when the new tower comes online.

Otherwise if you still have warranty left on your Jetpack then I would give VZW a call and ask for a replacement device.  Chances are they will still make you jump through the hoops to document the problem in more detail but you should arrive at the conclusion that a swap is the only remaining step.
