I just got this Mifi device back in early November. I'm wondering if this device was previously owned by some other person??? I'm able to delete these messages, but how do I stop these from coming in and block the messengers?
It doesn’t matter if the Jetpack is new or used, it gets a new phone number. Phone numbers are a finite resource, even a new phone number has likely been assigned before. You send a text to a phone number, the device assigned the phone number receives the text.
You can call Customer Service (800) 922-0204 and complain about it or perhaps request a different phone number.
Disabling calls and sms should be possible with a quick update to your account. All that the Jetpack needs to opperate is data. VZW should be able to assist you with something simple like this. We disable text messaging (along with other unnecessary features) on all of our Jetpacks by default.
1Deb, congratulations on your new MiFi device. Receiving unwanted messages can certainly get a bit tasking. The great news is, we can add a block to those text messages for you to put a stop to this. Simply reach out to us at 800-922-0204 and we will be happy to add that block today.
