U620l & USB 3.0

I have a Dell Latitude E5440 with 2 USB 3.0 and 1USB 2.0.  The modem only works in the USB 2.0.  I cannot find any documentation that states the modem should work with the 3.0.  However in the packaging it states USB 2.0 and higher, this would imply 3.0!  The card loads the drivers  then the device says it cannot start.  I have updated the Windows 7, and the drivers from Dell. I would prefer to use the 2.0 as it is only on the back of the laptop behind the open screen.  Does anyone have any ideas on what is needed to have the modem work with the USB 3.0, hank you in advanceif it is possible?

Sorry, I saw this when first posted and thought I responded to it.

You’re using an older computer with an older operating system that lacks native support for USB3 requiring a third party driver not provided by Microsoft. You might have luck trying to update the Windows USB3 driver from the USB3 hardware manufacturer. You might also be able to disable USB3 in the computer’s Bios Setup forcing all USB ports to run as USB2.
