Verizon App ENCOURAGES DOG FIGHTING

The app "Dog Wars" developed by Kage Games LLC allows users to train dogs and fight them with other users. Many animal rights groups are up in arms about this and it will bring about horrible publicity both for Verizon and Google. Google has refused to take the app down, as of now, because it "doesn't violate their content policy." Verizon should lead the stand against animal cruelty and ban this sick app before their name is implicated further.

I have contacted Google and they have replied that they won't take it down because it doesn't violate their policy. What is Verizon's response? Do they have any say on what Google allows on the market or not?

I have no idea to be honest. And I doubt you will ever get that answer from anyone you contact at verizon.
I have never seen VZW able to remove anything from market in the past, And I don't see a way to block one specific download server side..There are plenty of XXX type apps on the market, If they are there I don't see this getting removed

Well porn and the internet are one and the same. I doubt too many people care enough to complain about porn. But animal cruelty raises big passions. Wait til PETA starts organizing its troops...
I'm just saying, Google is already being targetted as supporting dog fighting for not doing anything about this. Verizon will be next. It will be in their best interest to remove this app, if they have the power to do it.

The Market is Googles baby, Verizon doesnt control the market at all so you wont have any luck with them... All cariers have access to the Market through any Android device but the carriers dont control whats on them or who can post on them...
There is apps on smoking weed, slapping ladies and shooting cops and if they havent removed those I really think you dont have much chance of having the app you are asking about.
Good Luck with that one...

They have as much say as AT&T, T-Mobile (uhhh...), and Sprint about what is and isn't allowed on the market.
Which is probably none, unless it could adversely affect the hardware.
Even direct competition is allowed, as in the Google Maps app vs Verizon's Navigator (?) app.
Google needs to be the target of such protests. However, if this is attended to in the manner you seek, then we will have Muslims protesting Bible apps and non-believers protesting the Christmas wallpapers.
Ya see where this could go in a hurry? And mark my word, as weird as civilization has become, it will eventually. I'm shocked it hasn't yet.
This is in the "no good answers" category.

Ha! Ha! Very funny, You figured me out ... Just playing here, I have no issue with things like this because where in a society that allows user to have access to anything because this is where the Freedom concept comes from. I hope our world hasnt became so bad that a person cant separate a game from reality, I play a number of games like Doom 3, Area 51, Grand Thief Auto and other games. But none of these things make me want to hunt alien, shot cops and hookers of go to demon infested worlds... In the end it is a game... So many blame games and the news for them doing stupid things.
The concept of forcing a dog to fight another for fun makes no since at all but the ones that do this proves where their state of mind is but on the same note we pay to see Boxing, Football and Wrestling that all encourage violence.. But I dont see anyone trying to have them stopped.
Now to make it clear, I am open to freedom and the ability to do what you want but on the same note who are we to judge someones decision for entertainment, no matter how much we disagree with it??

Why does an app like this bother you so much? It's not like they have real dogs going out to fight other dogs. It's like saying Call of Duty encourages people to murder and raise rebellion anywhere they see fit. It is simply a game and nothing else.

i'm surprised we are even discussing verizon or google about this. if you have a problem with it, then why not take it up with the actual developer of the game? you can load apps without even using the market OR verizon.....so neither of them will be able to keep the app off of phones. the developer is the only one that can get rid f this app. the other option is to simply ignore it. i love dogs.....but when women (actual human beings) are degraded in video games, it is more offensive to me than animals. so guess what i do. i DON"T buy the games where you can slap, rape, etc women....and my sons are not allowed to play them either. again....i LOVE dogs....but there are PLENTY of more offensive stuff out there that you can get at target, walmart, or best buy....so i don't see a dogfighting app going anywhere.

I usually do not react to situations like this but I still think this is getting a bit of the wall, there is so many things wrong in this world and we fight to have freedom in our life but every time someone does something a bit against our beliefs we feel that gives us the right to disregard their rights.... It is a game and it is not hurting any one or any thing and I do not see why things keep getting blown out of paportion.
Sorry I am pro FREEDOM and am getting amazed how so many feel they have a place to dictate others lifes but I guarentee on the same note they will get on the offensive if someone tell them they cant do something that they think is there decision (Read the forums for proof).

HOWEVER, if this was an app that was about bank robbery, meth manufacturing, or a list of other illegal actions, it WOULD be deleted.
Sorry, dog fighting is illegal the app has to go.

street racing cars, growing weed, atomic bombing, mob warfare, blow up (where you blow up houses AND animals).....i'm fairly certain all of these include illegal activities. and yes, even shooting birds from a sling shot could land you in jail. those POOR BIRDS!!!!!!!
i'd bet a paycheck that we will see some group of 8 year old kids in the news someday for shooting birds from a slingshot, who got the idea from an app.....before we see an illegal dog fighting ring that was all concieved from an app.

Quick scan of apps
All of these apps are located and for sale for some while without being removed ,deleted, or sensored because once again I point out that these are games, so many parents prefer to pass the blame on any thing they can instead of understanding that they need to decide what their kids are exposed to, If a child of encouraging age can get access to a game such as this, this is more the parents issues that society.
Blow up building and even a poor Teddy Bear
Beat up and kill police, hookers and well as stealing cars, trucks and med vehicles and run people down.
Games on growing and identification illegal drug..
Shoot birds from a slingshot at walls and animals
Please explain to me how any of these wont give a child a ideal to do something that isn't legal, if you censored everything in this world that isn't legal and kids can get access to then you have to destroy the world because even the shows made for kids has violence... Guess you never seen road runner and the coyote that drops anvils on other heads.
You need to censor you kids from the evils of the world not the reverse way.... The world is evil and this will be like this to the end...
How many of the ones complaining about these type of apps havent bought their kid a Wii or Playstation that has way more violent games that do worse than this one... Selective Sensoring is amazing....

If it looks fake to me (cartoonish, etc.), I can usually stomach the subject better than if it looked realistic.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Now that you said it I have to giggle also.... And also I see your concept with the item looking real but the only thing that is concerning me is the number of new laws that are created over situations that should not been as extreme as it gets.
Lets be realistic when the law allows you to sue for hot coffee or for a criminal to be able to sue you if they break into your property and gets injured doing so, or better yet (My Situation) have a kid enter onto my fenced in property and hurt himself getting a ball off my roof, or world isnt going the right way....
Another thing, have you not noticed the number of situation just in the last 2 years that a kid killed someone and used a movie, song or game being the reason for doing the crime.... These kids dont except responiblity for anything these days, why would they because the law makes a reason for them.
My Grandmother said that we was going to H*** in a porsche because the wagon was moving to slow.... Boy this is so true.
