A truly FREE video converter for Windows Not trial-ware, no limits

Since someone has been spamming these news groups with ads for a "free download" video converter that is NOT free to register, I thought I would add a link to a converter that IS actually free.  It's just the first one I came across.  Earlier today I found several references on http://lifehacker.com to several other converters, some of which had Mac and Linux versions available also.  Before you go paying for a video converter that is advertised through someone enticing you with a "free download" do a quick Google, on the subject, there are many available that are actually free.  I haven't tried any of these, as I do not run windows, and any video conversion I would happen to do myself would be done from a Linux command prompt, the process of which is beyond what I want to try to explain in a posting here :smileyhappy:

(And no, I have absolutely no connection with this videora product or lifehacker.com,  I just hate spammers and scammers worse than just about anything else I can think of at the moment.)

I can vouch for this app as well. I've tried many converters on my Mac, and all had quality/sync issues until I stumbled upon the Videora converters. They're easy to use and the videos look and sound fantastic on my Droid Eris.

Interestingly we used to use Videora to port videos to my wife's Ipod and it was pretty cool.  I wonder if I still have the Princess Bride I would love to have that on my Droid.

I'm glad I didn't find a link to something that did *not* work  LOL

I was just fed up with the spammer that was constantly posting a video converter that they were hawking as a "Free download" when the product itself was not actually free to use.

I second this.  It's a great program.

Having finally gotten around to playing with the Videora program on a windows Virtual Machine on my laptop, I was appalled by the amount of advertising in it!  (At least it wasn't pornographic!)

After playing around on my Linux system with a couple of different front-ends for the ffmpeg video converter, I cam across the winff application.

The newest version actually has specific settings for "Google Android", and works pretty quickly compared to videora in windows.

This is a fully Open Source GPL project (Free as in free beer, and free speach) and is also available in a pre-compiled Windows version from http://winff.org/html_new/

No ads :smileyhappy: and it's faster, and you can easily drag drop multiple files into the window to batch convert without having to go through the Videora menus which are sluggish (at best)

The Videora works, and if you are happy with it, great, but if you want something faster and without 10 adds flashing and dancing around in your application, you might check out the winff app.
