If we can have multiple apps running at the same time, is there not a way to switch from one to the other from the last open screen of each one. Going to the last six apps works, but that method is not as quick as Alt Tab on a Windows based computer.

Where I can definitly see the bare bones comparison between Android/Windows, they are worlds different. The only thing I can think of is holding down the home button to bring up the screen with the last 6 most recent apps started/used.
Sure they are. But it would be nice if there was such a method on the Droid.

I think alt-tab is irrelevant if you just hold down the home button. Arguing semantics about what makes Android more or less capable based on this is superficial. There is no taskbar, hence alt-tabbing is irrelevant. Having used OSX for a while I end up holding down (instead of alt-tab is cmd-tab, works the same though) cmd and tabbing through apps anyways.
This is what holding the home button accomplished. What's really nice though is once you've changed from, say feedr to pandora, once you hit the back button on Pandora it just takes you back to Feedr.
Beyond this type of functionality, I don't see why what you've just asked about is even needed.
