A new app was released by AT&T for the iPhone to enable users to report dropped calls. Guess we won't be needing this one.

Are you the guy who invented [edit]
Why would I need an app that more than likely won't go to a live person that I can report my problems to but instead forwards my complaints to a souless spam bin where it can be ignored?

Gee MrHacks, let me try to explain. I was using sarcasm. If the iPhone is so wonderful and AT&T's network is so great (as stated in the many full page newspaper ads AT&T has been running) why does it need a special application to report dropped calls?

you guys realize it depends where you are right, where I live in SE Wisc, Verizon and the droid completely stink.
AT&T is much better in this particular area. Also most of the people who experience issues are in areas like New York City or LA.
I returned my droids because of the terrible call quality and voice signal strength. (3g was good though, it just sucked at making phone calls) To bad because I did like the droid. Looks like google is going to be getting into the unlocked phone market, so in a couple of years I will be able to use one of those.

The underlined holds true for everything, It's good that you moved to a network that allows you to make calls, I'm happy for you
The bold has been happening for a while now. Look at when the HTC Hero first came out!

I guess it is going to Apple. Most of the problems that people talk about with the AT&T network are with the iPhone. It has some issues with signal receiving. There are two sets of independant tests out. One that clearly sets AT&T in the lead faster more coverage overall and in general it is superior, another that shows Verizon at the top of the pile. The main difference is the one that has AT&T at the top doesn't include iPhone data and the others are almost exclusively iPhone data.

After I posted this, an article appeared in the NY Times with that exact information.

Really? I have the exact opposite of what you just said. Drop calls on my iphone 3G pretty much EVERYDAY. Yeah signal is great, at 3-4 bars but the drop call did it for me and I left AT&T with 7 months left on my contract. So far, so much better on Verizon. I'm sorry you had issues, but for me AT&T is not good in Milwaukee. All these calls were outside, not inside some building or house.
