Droid apps draining battery when idle?

So I've got this thing going on with my Droid after hours. I'll set it down for the night, I come back in the morning and the battery's drained. I mean EMPTY. It's not every night, so I'm thinking it's a sync process, maybe? Any Android experts can tell me if I'm right? And if I just need to put the process killer on there to cut out those apps? I should note that I have local wifi when docked, so it's not a 3g drain.

Having WiFi enabled can drain your battery as well. (As can GPS and other ongoing features.) Also, do you have your phone set to automatically turn off the screen after a period of inactivity? Is it near any magnets? (Magnets can make the phone think it is docked, causing the screen to stay on.) If your screen gets left on all night, that can put a serious drain on it.

GPS off, WiFi on. Not near magnets. I thought the WiFI would be a better solution than letting the 3G do the sync work. If, in fact, it's the sync actions that are killing the battery.
