Can anyone tell me why every game on the verizon media store site say that it's not compatible with the Droid? I want to check out some games, but can't find any to download.

That's because it's not, I'm more than certain that the games that are on the VCast Store wouldn't even fit the huge resolution of the Droid.

Can anyone recommend where to go for some games then? Other then the "market place" games. Thank you.

Unless you're aware of how to install APK's (which I'll admit isn't hard whatsoever), there really isn't a site that you can go to to install games. The Marketplace is your best bet, and, just a question--what kind of games are you looking for anyway?

Mostly strategy and/or turn based games. Something I can pickup, make a few moves and put down again if I have to.
But I know for a fact that I've downloaded a game from the media store weeks ago (Bejeweled) directly from the site, but now it says that same game isn't compatible. Not sure if it occurred after the big update or what.

you could try an emulator and download gameboy advance roms. but you do have to get use to the buttons.

You might want to do a search for "Battle on Mars" on the marketplace, it's from Larva Labs and is a considerably serious strategy game.
And Jewels to get your Bejweled fix out of the way.
