Google Navigator Voice

When I got the Revolution, Google Navigator had a decent voice but kept telling me to download the text to speech software everytime it loaded. I could cancel but it was annoying.

I finally allowed Pico to load and the voice as you all know is awful. There seems to be no removing Pico.

Any thoughts to a decent voice without spending a bunch to test them all out?

Is there a reason you dont just install the Voice to Text app, its just a small file and does not affect the device any...

Um. text to voice. That is Pico. I did install it. Much worse that what was in GVoice originally. This is for when it talks to the driver. Not for driver to device. Although it is kinda cute...

Strange because on some devices Google Nav ask for download of the voice to text....  I am unsure but did 2.3 get released for LG Revolution, if so you can install a app called Equalizer from https://market.android.com/details?id=com.smartandroidapps.equalizer&feature=search_resul and use the Google Nav.

Seems since Nav is bundled with Maps, there is no way to see a version number. There are other text to speech apps out there, but none that you can test drive. SVOX seems to be it. Free app but $2.99 for voices....

There regular website has demos of the voices. Hopefully they are the same. Ahhhh Grace

There is a number of Nav apps for Android with Voice to Text to pick from including Verizon app.

Another thing to concider the speaker quality wasnt yjr best when I tried the device...

Try the free version of TeleNav from https://market.android.com/details?id=com.telenav.app.android.verizonfreemium&feature=search_result

I just route the audio through my car's stereo (I use bluetooth but the headphone jack works just as well) and play music from my phone. When it needs to read directions, it mutes the music, reads the turn, then kicks the music back in, without skipping a beat.

Hahaha. I added it to mine, only ran me about $400 >_>

In all seriousness though your car probably has a headphone jack, it works just as well.
