Well your assumptions would be correct.
You've run out of internal space on your phone to actually fit it all in. If you got to Menu>Settings>SD Card and Phone Storage, you'll see how much MB You have left to install apps. Each app size varies (From a few KB, to the largest, 5MB), and it seems as though you've reached your limit, my friend.

. Interesting thing is all the times I'd called Verizon with the issue nobody ever mentioned this nor asked how many apps were installed. So I went through several frustrating calls and lost time not to mention their having to send me a replacement and all along it was my own doing. hmmmm.
