can multitouch be added with firmware? Why did moto not add it?

it might be a licensing thing with the iphone. however, if you get the picsay app, it was recently discovered that you could use the multitouch, but only with that program.
so what this means is that the android 2.0 will support multitouch, just we cant have it yet for the whole phone.
