Welcome to the forum and stepping into the world of power...

Not sure how long to charge battery

You should charge device with wall charger verse the computers usb and allow a full charge it suggested...

It runs out of power fast because I have been trying to download things

This is going t happen because like all devices the more you use the device the more it drains and you have a laptop in your hand that requires more to function than standard cell phone, so you may want to concider this when judging battery life)

I have been loving my device and I hope you will to.

Be sure to check and see what all is syncing, how often the apps are syncing and if you really need all listed to sync.

You may want to turn off automatic screen brightness. I am at about 35-40% and I view everything fine, unless I will be outside, then I just turn the brightness up.

There are alot of things to increase your daily battery life.
