.
I would really love to bend some Android engineer's about this seemingly obviously needed feature (well, that and missed calls and messages notifications like my wonderful old Razr had, but that's another post.
In the meantime, is anyone aware of an app either in the Android marketplace or somewhere else that will direct ringtones and notifications to the BT headset without an epic dog and pony show doing it?
Thanx for any ideas,
Geri O

Im able to listen to all my notifications through my Motorola s9-HD with a HTC Thunderbolt and I was able to do it as well with my old Motorola Droid. That includes twitter, email, gmail, text and calls sometimes it gets annoying specially while listen to music since the notifications plays along the music and no app required.

It depends on the BT stack and what BT headset you are using.
For example for the life of me the D3 with the Jawbone Era it never does it, but the one for the Command One does. The HTC Sensation it works with the Era, but not with the Command One.

Is there "alternate BT stacks" available? This is an area I'm not familiar with.
Thanx for the replies,

Well, darn, I thought it had to do with a shortcoming in the Android. I had both Jawbone Icon and Era as well as a Plantronics Pro Plus (using the Icon at the moment) and none of them ring or notify through the headset.

geri o....i really know nothing about BT stacks, but it is my understanding that they are different from one rom to another. so i believe there are ways to get alternative BT stacks.....just not sure what the differences are or if there are any roms that include ALL of the stacks? honestly.....i'm not even sure if what i just said even makes sense...lol.

I believe Gerio is using a Droid X2 at the moment.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I do plan to be in line at the store when the Bionic hits the door, though. I won't be surprised if I see the same issue with it.
Thanx, guys. Ya'll take care,

This is a nice read for you to get a ideal of how bluetooth stack works and the number of differences that there is when dealing with communication with OS and hardware.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_stack
Also I just realized that I had a way to make it clear its not the phone but it appears to be more of the ear piece compatibility, my Samsung Bluetooth doesn't receive message alerts but my Jabra Handfree http://www.jabra.com/sites/mobile/na-us/products/pages/jabracruiser.aspx transmit all alert through it without issues..
